KEPCO and Jeju Hallim Offshore Wind Power Drive Korea’s Largest Offshore Wind Project

The Jeju Hallim Offshore Wind Farm, South Korea’s largestoffshore wind project, has been successfully completed, marking a significantstep in the nation’s push toward renewable energy expansion. Located off thenorthwest coast of Jeju, near Hallim and Hangyeong, the project consists of 18towering wind turbines, each standing 180 metres high, creating a new landmarkalong Jeju’s coastline.

Developed by Jeju Hallim Offshore Wind Power Co., Ltd., withKorea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) playing a key role, the project is setto generate 100MW of clean electricity, enough to power approximately 65,000households per year (based on a family of four). This large-scale offshore windfarm is expected to significantly contribute to South Korea’s carbon neutralitygoals and enhance Jeju’s energy independence by reducing reliance on fossilfuels.

A Game-Changer in Offshore Wind Energy

The Jeju Hallim Offshore Wind Farm is a flagship project inSouth Korea’s renewable energy strategy, developed in line with governmentpolicies to expand offshore wind capacity and meet global clean energy targets.

The project was planned, financed, and developed through ajoint effort, with KEPCO and Jeju Hallim Offshore Wind Power Co., Ltd. playingcritical roles in its execution. By harnessing Jeju’s strong offshore winds, the wind farm is set to strengthen South Korea’s renewable energyinfrastructure and reduce carbon emissions.

A representative from Jeju Hallim Offshore Wind PowerCo., Ltd. stated:

"This project represents a major milestone for offshorewind energy in South Korea. We hope it serves as a foundation for futurelarge-scale renewable energy projects. We extend our gratitude to all those whocontributed to overcoming offshore construction challenges and ensuring theproject's successful completion."

Towards a Sustainable Energy Future

With the completion of the Jeju Hallim Offshore Wind Farm,KEPCO and Jeju Hallim Offshore Wind Power Co., Ltd. plan to receive RenewableEnergy Certificates (REC) from the Korea Energy Agency and commence full-scaleelectricity production in March 2025.

As South Korea’s largest offshore wind facility, thisproject is expected to boost Jeju’s energy independence, reduce reliance onimported fossil fuels, and support the country’s transition to a sustainableenergy system.

Through projects like the Jeju Hallim Offshore Wind Farm,KEPCO and Jeju Hallim Offshore Wind Power Co., Ltd. continue to pioneeradvancements in offshore wind energy, contributing to South Korea’s long-termrenewable energy strategy and positioning the country as a leader in cleanenergy development.
